Title Type Codes
|AD||Director/Dept Chair (non-paid)
An unpaid title indicating administrative responsibilities such as Chancellor, Dean, Department Head, Division Chief, Section Chief, Chairman or Director are classified as “Director/Dept Chair.” Also included are the administrative titles reporting to these positions with the “prefix” of Vice, Associate or Assistant. No titles of faculty rank (i.e. Instructor and above) should be included as “Director/Dept Chair.”
Unpaid faculty receiving courtesy titles should not be included in the submitted budget. Please consult with the Medical School Appointments Office before using this classification.
An unpaid named or unpaid distinguished title of faculty rank (Instructor or above) is classified as “Distinguished.” This may be a named endowed professorship (including alumni endowed professorships), a Distinguished University Professor title, or a named scholar title.
An unpaid emeritus title is classified as “Emeritus.” This may apply to a faculty member with emeritus status also being paid as a lecturer. Faculty with emeritus status who are not paid by any department or school should not be included in the submitted budget.
|ST||Title of Standing (non-paid)
An unpaid joint appointment signifying a relationship with or contribution to the department even though no salary is associated with the department. If this title carries tenure then use the TN “Tenured Title” code instead of this code. Titles for named professorships or Distinguished University Professors should be classified as DS “Distinguished.”
|TN||Tenured Title (non-paid)
An unpaid title of faculty rank for reflecting the faculty member’s tenure in the department. This is usually applicable to faculty members whose primary responsibilities are administrative. Titles for named professorships or Distinguished University Professors should be classified as DS “Distinguished” rather than TN “Tenured.”
An unpaid title for a faculty member with a prime, visiting appointment with Washington University.
